man's best friend
Unlike my usual self, today I woke up early to a warm sunrise. I had a meeting with Allen later in the afternoon that I wanted to be prepared for, not to mention on time for, which I rarely ever am. So feeling ambitious to take on the day, in spirit of trying to handle all tasks efficiently, it felt fitting to start the day with a walk.
These days, between meetings with the Map the Soul team, recording sessions for the new album, building the site, and handling legal issues with getting out of a previous contract, there was a serious lack of exercise in my life. I consider some sort of exercise, wether it's yoga in my apartment, half-assly working out at the gym, or skateboarding in an empty parking lot, a must..in order for my mind to function properly. Some times I just need it to clear my head. So, Ddoongie (my 7 year old shitsu) and I got our pot belly asses up early and headed out for a walk along Seoul's 양재천 (yang je chun) creek side trail.
The weather had warmed up, the trees gave a sense of cleanliness in a smoggy city, and seeds of inspiration began to sprout in my mind. The day was starting off quite pleasantly.. until.. out of no where, for no good reason, this angered dog bit Ddoongie's hind leg, swiftly and firmly. He must have been hungry and saw Ddoongie as a giant drumstick like in cartoons. Immediately I was thrown off and all other tasks got put on hold. So I rushed him to the vet, concerned about diseases, and psychological damage. Though the vet's on call shrink was not available, luckily he was ok. He got two stitches and had to wear a plastic cone for a week. I was late to the meeting.
Later, I thought it was a funny preparation that I had just seen 'Marley and Me,' a movie about a dog, the night before. And fell asleep smiling thinking of my first dog Jimmy.
